Uni Papua Football Community

Network Member

Uni Papua transformed from a football club into a social foundation in 2011 in order to tackle pervasive social issues in West Papua. Its vision is to create “a foundation to nurture youths and adolescents to be able to keep them from alcohol, drugs, promiscuity and other social problems.”

Currently operating in Jayapura, Biak Island and Maybrat, Uni Papua provides young people aged between 6 and 23 with a structured environment in which to play football and to develop life-skills. It also runs English classes and regular awareness events on topics such as domestic violence, HIV/AIDS and peace building.
